Planning Division

Planning carries out in relation to the tasks of achieving efffective results optimally in the concept of "a sustainably developed Sri Lanka", which is the vision of the Ministry.

Mainly the functions of policies, planning programs and planning of projects, follow-up and evaluation activities in respect of the Departments / institutions affiliated under the subject of cultural affairs are carried out.

The Planning Division also maintains and updates a database containing information of the Ministry and the Departments / Institutions and Cultural Centers of the Ministry and shares such information among the relevant Divisions.

Services provided by the Division

Preparation of the Action Plan and Activity Plan annually.
Preparation of the Performance Report and forwarding it to the Parliament.
Preparation of the Annual Progress Report and forwarding it to the Parliament.
Preparation of quarterly Progress Reports.
Reviewing the progress of projects and programmes of the cultural sector and its related institutions, submission of reports to the relevant institutions and carry out the necessary follow-up activities.
Preparation of Annual Budget Estimates.
Submission of Project Reports of the Cultural Affairs Division and affiliated Departments / institutions to the Department of Planning for approval.
Organizing the Progress Review Meetings to find out monthly progress of the projects, programmes and affairs of the cultural division and related institutions of the Ministry.
Preparation and presentation of presentations.
Liaison and reporting of development activities of all the institutions under the Ministry.
Finding out the progress of implementing the decisions made for Cabinet Memoranda.
Provision of the necessary coorporation to direct the national programmes for which the Ministry shall contribute.
Identification of the development issues of the institutions / Departments under the Cultural Affairs Division and preparation of plans for the same.
