This is a very special Programme which is implemented focusing the Regional Cultural Centres with the intention of bringing forth a sensitive and virtuous future generation through cultivating artistic talents getting tended the children of nation towards Aesthetic education. It is intended to maintain a Dancing Pool with the intention of enhancing the artistic talents of nascent artistes studying at Regional Cultural Centres situated throughout the Island. It is expected to design this pool with the objective of creating a group of art connoisseurs through Cultural Centres as well as building up self-confidence in ones’ own for the identification of own talents and creativity in an individual and facilitates to make smooth further the talents in oneself.

• Provision of more opportunities for the students with special artistic talents for University entrance
• Growth of tranquility in children through sense of collaboration
• Promotion of cultural coexistence
• Bringing forth a generation of sensitive youths for a prosperous country
• Directing artistes for all local and foreign concerts
• Training and introduction of traditional, new, modern and foreign dancing styles
• Provision of updated knowledge on arts and culture
• Provision of knowledge on stage administration, make up, usage of electric light and dress making
• Introduction of the possibility of using local traditional drum rhythms and new music melodies and musical instruments for dancing

Targeted Group

Nascent artistes and resource persons of Regional Cultural Centres

Method of selection

Subjecting ten competent artistes (Male / female) between the age of 15 years and 25 years with not less than two year membership in a cultural Centre for an interview and a practical test and selection through an interview panel with subject proficiency.

Composition - 125 Dancing artistes (Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim)

(Inclusive of Drummers)

Method of implementation

• Conducting a three day workshop with the participation of veteran artistes in the field with the intention of uplifting the talents inviting all artistes selected.
• Grouping all the artistes selected according to the talent, tradition and personality.
• Residential Training for 03 days in every month for maintaining the subject proficiency continuously.
• Carrying out the training activities at National Training Centre in Veyangoda which has a wide area belongs to the Ministry for the purpose.
• Maintenance of this under the guidance of Instructor of Arts of the Ministry and seeking assistance of the resource persons on his instructions
• Provision of opportunity to enhance the technical knowledge with veterans in the field for special workshops in the School vacation.
