The book Lionel Gunathilake's Introduction to Sri Lankan Dance and Music Art and the Information Directory of Stage Theater Artists are launched.

Kalabhushan Lionel Gunathilak, a talented musician who has done a great job for the advancement of the local theater arts as well as the dance music industry, has done a great service for the future development of the local arts by joining hands with the Tower Hall Theater Foundation for twenty-six years. The presentation ceremony of the book "Lionel Gunathilaka's Approach to Lankan Dance Music Art" written by Mrs. Alala Chandi Suddatchari for his unparalleled service to the art of dance music was held today (17) at Savsiripaya Auditorium.

In this program which was organized according to the instructions of the minister in charge Mr. Vidura Wickramanayake, the catalog of Tower Theater produced by the Tower Hall Theater Foundation, which includes artists who worked for the improvement of the local music and acting fields, was also launched.

Saraswathi Abhinandana was performed by the Sarasavipaya students of the Jayasankha Ranga Foundation of Natya Bhushana, dramatist Chudamani Sri Jayatha Karunasekera. Alumni of Tower School of Drama and Performing Arts also presented a choreography.

Tower Hall Theater Foundation Director General Dr. D.M.S. Mr. Dissanayake, expert artists and many literati were also present. Minister Mr. Vidura Wickramanayake and heads of the Ministry of Culture also participated in this event.

 

The first committee meeting to amend the National Cultural Policy was held last (16) at the Setsiripaya Cultural Affairs Ministry Auditorium under the chairmanship of the minister in charge of the subject. The National Cultural Policy has been published through the Special Gazette of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka bearing No. 1525/12. The minister in charge of the subject recently emphasized the need to build a new cultural policy sensitive to the social and economic changes in society today.

For the first committee meeting, Committee Chairman Prof. Praneeth Abhyasundara, Senior Prof. Premakumara de Silva, Advocate Pratibha Mahanama Hewa, Official Language Commissioner Prince Senadheera, Mr. AF Faroz Noon, Ms. Sandra Soja, Senior Architect Ashley D. Mr. Wash, Committee Secretary Sajeevani Chandima (Assistant Secretary Ministry of Buddhism) participated and Jaffna University retired professor P. Mr. Balasundarampillai was contacted through remote communication. Secretary of the Ministry Mr. Somaratne Vidana Pathirana, Additional Secretary (Cultural Promotion) Mr. Tilak Hettiarachchi and other heads of ministries, and Minister in charge Mr. Vidura Wickramanayake also participated in this committee meeting.

දැයේ දූ දරුවන් සෞන්දර්ය අධ්‍යාපනයට නැඹුරු කරමින් ඔවුන්ගේ කලා කුසලතා වර්ධනය කරවීම මගින් සංවේ දී සුචරිතවත් අනාගත පරපුරක් බිහිකිරීමේ අරමුණෙන් ප්‍රාදේශීය සංස්කෘතික මධ්‍යස්ථාන කේන්ද්‍ර කර ගෙන අන්තර් සංස්කෘතික මධ්‍යස්ථාන ප්‍රතිභා සංගීත ,නර්තන හා චිත්‍ර තරගාවලිය 2022 නොවැම්බර් මස 15 වැනි දින එල්ෆින්ස්ටන් රඟහලේ දී බුද්ධශාසන, ආගමික හා සංස්කෘතික කටයුතු අමාත්‍ය ගරු විදුර වික්‍රමනායක මැතිතුමාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් පැවැත්විණි.

මෙම උත්සව අවස්ථාවට අමත්‍යංශ මාණ්ඩලික නිලධාරින් ඇතුළු අමාත්‍යාංශ නිලධාරින් , සංස්කෘතික මධ්‍යස්ථාන නිලධාරින්, සම්පත්දායක මහත්ම මහත්මින් සහ දරු දැරියන් ඇතුළු විශාල පිරිසක් සහභාගි වුහ.

Mr. Somaratne Vidanapathirana has assumed duties as the new Secretary to the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs on 24.05.2022. He has earlier worked as the Secretary to the Ministry of Wildlife and Forest Conservation.

Many distinguished persons inclusive of the Hon. Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Vidura Wickramanayake and Heads of all the Departments under the Ministry and the Institutions had participated in this occasion.

Minister of National Heritage Performing Arts and Rural Art Promotion Affairs Vidura Wickramanayake on 10th day of March, 2022. A sum of Rs. 30 million was spent for this purpose.

Many people including the Additional Secretary (Cultural Promotion) to the Ministry Mr. T.N.Hettiarachchi, Director (Cultural Promotion) Dr. Prasad Ranasinghe, District Secretary of Batticaloa, Divisional Secretary of Vakarai, Political representatives and artistes had participated in the occasion.

Ambassadors’ Eve – Cultural Saubhagya cultural Show was held at Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre on 19th day of February, 2022 presiding over by His Excellency the President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Hon. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa with the intention of promoting cultural relations as per the Cultural Cooperation Agreements entered between Sri Lanka and the foreign countries and promotion of cultural tourism industry in Sri Lanka.

Many officers inclusive of the Secretary to the Ministry Prof. Kapila Gunawardhane, Foreign Ambassadors in this country, High Commissioners and many persons inclusive of the Diplomatic officials of the Embassies participated in this occasion.
