As per the Programme of constructing Cultural Centres throughout the Island, Omanthai Cultural Centre in the Divisional Secretary’s Division, Omanthai in Vavuniya District was declared open presiding over by Hon. Minister of National Heritage, Performing Arts and Rural Art Promotion Affairs Vidura Wickramanayake on 03rd day of March, 2022. A sum of Rs. 30 million was spent for this purpose.

Many people including the Additional Secretary (Cultural Promotion) to the Ministry Mr. T.N.Hettiarachchi, Director (Cultural Promotion) Dr. Prasad Ranasinghe, District Secretary of Vavuniya, Divisional Secretary of Omanthai, Political representatives and artistes had participated in the occasion.

Minister of National Heritage, Performing Arts and Rural Art Promotion Affairs Vidura Wickramanayake on 15th day of February, 2022. A sum of Rs. 26.48 million was spent for this purpose.
