Creative Skill Competition of Inter Public Employees – 2009

Measures have already been taken to hold the Award Ceremony of Creative Skill Competition which is organized annually by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and National Heritage with the avowed interest of exhibiting creative skills of employee in the public sector and government affiliated institutions while inspiring and encouraging these aspiring segments in the field of Literature. This function was held under the distinguished patronage of Hon. Minister of Cultural Affairs, Piyasiri Wijenayaka on the 20th October 2009 at the John De Silva Memorial Theatre.

 


This competition provides opportunity for public employees to capitalize on their leisure time in a fruitful way widening their imagination and knowledge on motherland and mother tongue. The winners of Children’s Story, Verse, Lyric writing, Short Story and Short Play categories were received awards and certificates at this glittering ceremony.  

The first place of Verse and Lyric writing were secured by Chintha Kumari Chandrasekara and H.A.Manike Hettiarachchi respectively. H.M.Gamini Pushpakumara and I.M.Chandra Damayanthi Iddamalgoda bagged the first places of Short Story and Children’s Story competition respectively. The first place of Art Creative’s was won by W.Inoka Weerasinghe. “Ea Sandath Eawarai” was adjudged the best play and the award for Best Actor was achieved by Sujith Priyantha for his successful portrayal of Vipulasara There in the same play. Gayathri Mahesha Gunaratna was succeeded in achieving the award for Best Actress for her portrayal of the role “Kanthi” in “Hada Ginigena Sandha Kumatada”. The Awards for best direction and best script were bagged by Antony Jayalath for creation “Ea Sandath Eawarai “


The creations which emerged victorious in the competition were complied into a book titled “Prabhaswara” and were presented to the Hon. Minister and the invited guest along with winning Children’s Story Book. Dancing items performed by the State Dancing Ensemble gave added glamour to the occasion.
