| The exhibition named " Heritage of Bronze Sculpture in Sri Lanka" opened in 1995, is still on. It includes a vast number of superior art work connected with the ancient culture of Sri Lanka. This is a must for all those who wish to get a glimpse of Sri Lankan culture and arts. These artifacts on display to large appreciate audiences in many foreign countries were brought back to Sri Lanka and are on display attracting appreciative comments from the Local visitors as well as from visitors from abroad. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||

This is one of the few libraries that possesses the entire range of documents from the first works in 1737 to the latest publications. At present it accommodates over one million titles including a large number of rare books and periodicals. The library also possesses the largest collection of palm leaf manuscripts in the country including the oldest discovered to date, namely the Chullavagga Ola leaf manuscripts of the 13th Century. Besides manuscripts in Sinhala the collection also includes palm leaf manuscripts in Pali, Sanskrit, Burmese and Cambodian. |

As a research institute, the museum is engaged in an array of diverse tasks contributing to the explorations on subjects like Pre- history, Ethnology, Anthropology, Culture and ancient Crafts. As a result of our association in these researches, books are published on a national level as well as on an international level. SPOLIA ZEYLANIKA is one of the publications of the museum that carries the information to various countries of the world about these researches conducted nationally. |

With a variety of programs for all age groups, the National Museum of Colombo serves as a bridge to help discover and understand the visual arts and the culture of Lanka. The Museum offers variety of educational programs, services and resources.
